About Concord Green
Welcome to CONCORD GREEN - a place, like the town greens of our past,
that provided a forum for sharing ideas and opinions of the day. In this case,
we will share everything we can about building healthy for both people and
our planet.
CONCORD GREEN is dedicated to promoting homes that are non-toxic,
eco-friendly and honor the traditional vernacular of New England. These
characteristics feature prominently in our first project - THE CONCORD
GREEN HOME - which is sited in the heart of historic Concord, MA.
Our goals demand that we utilize the very best of OLD and NEW building
principles.
Like our ancestors, who could not simply flip a light switch or adjust the
thermostat, we will respect the position of the warming sun, cooling breeze
and shady trees. Better than in the past, we will super-insulate to retain
comfortable indoor temperatures, and minimize energy use. The home will be
rooted in classical architecture, but panelized off-site to cut waste and protect
materials from weather, thus reducing the potential for rot and mold.
A special thank you to the project's team members, who were open to the
rather unsettling idea of having two sets of architects in order to marry classic
and cutting-edge design/build technologies: ZeroEnergy Design, green
building science experts, and Connor Homes, creators of reproduction "New
Old Homes". This project would not be possible without Aedi Construction,
our healthy home builder.
